LANSING, Mich.— State Sen. Tom Casperson, R-Escanaba, welcomed Michigan Technological University President Glenn Mroz as his guest to Gov. Rick Snyder’s State of the State address on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012.
Casperson said it was especially fitting to have the president of Michigan Tech, a school with respected natural resource programming, on hand to hear the governor’s comments about the opportunities that mining and forestry present to help lead not only the Upper Peninsula through economic recovery, but the entire state. Casperson went on to say that the commitment the governor has pledged to strategically and sustainably use our natural resources makes for an exciting time with the prospect of good, well-paying jobs that were the very foundation of the UP.
