Casperson welcomes U.S. Army veteran, uncle Donald Casperson to Senate Memorial Day service

LANSING, Mich.—State Sen. Tom Casperson, R-Escanaba, welcomed his uncle, Donald Casperson, to the state Capitol on Thursday for the Michigan Senate’s 21st Annual Memorial Day Service, which honors Michigan residents killed in action during the previous 12 months.

Donald Casperson is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1961-63.

The Michigan Senate held its first Memorial Day Service in 1995 at the initiative of former U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers, who was then a state senator.
